Q. Do you offer breakfast?
A. No, but some of our units are kitchens and some units have a fridge/dishes/microwave and prep area. Also, there is breakfast available nearby – restaurants are all within walking distance. Breakfast options at restaurants can range from a coffee and muffin for $5 or full breakfast averages around $10.00 at most places.
Q. Do the kitchen units come with dishes?
A. Yes, we have fully equipped kitchens with all of your dishes, glasses, pots, pans etc.
Q. Is there daily housekeeping?
A. Yes we offer a daily service within the time frame that our housekeepers are here.
Q. Is there guest laundry?
A. Yes, we do have a coin-operated guest laundry on-site. Open 9AM to 9PM daily. Change and laundry soap available through the front desk. Our laundry room also functions as a “dry-room”. In-house guests with wetsuits or wet rain-gear can store this gear in the laundry room overnight. Our laundry room has an additional heat-source and will help make your gear warm and dry for use the next day.
Q. Do you have an ocean view?
A. Yes, we have a beautiful view of the boat harbour from some, but not all of our units. We are just a few metres from the harbour. See room descriptions for more details.
Q. Do you have a hot tub?
A. No, but we do have a heated indoor pool and a wet cedar sauna that is great to warm up in after a day of fishing or surfing at the beach. Plus, a 3000 sq ft (Gold’s Gym sized gym!).
Q. Is there a place to buy groceries?
A. Yes! We may seem like a small village but we have a Co-op grocery store where you should be able to find everything you need and a small corner convenience store. The store closes on “small town hours”, usually at 7 pm.
Q. Do you have internet.
A. Yes, we offer free wired or wireless internet to our guests.
Q. Do you have a dock where we can moor our boats?
A. No, but we are located steps from the government marina where you can receive moorage. We do have a place to store your trailer, if needed. Call the harbour master at 250-725-8190 to arrange moorage.
Q. How far away is Tofino?
A. Ucluelet and Tofino are 42 km apart and about 30-45 min drive.
Q. Can you surf in Ucluelet?
A. You can’t surf right in Ucluelet, but it’s only a 10 min drive away at Wickinninnish Beach/Long Beach. Rentals and surf lessons are available at local surf shops. We do have packages and discounts that can be arranged through our desk and you will have some savings by booking through us.
Q. Do you allow pets?
A. Not in our motel but we do have one cabin that we allow small non shedding dogs (must be pre-approved).
Q. Do the units have private washrooms?
A. Yes, all of our units come with a private washroom with sink, toilet and shower. All units, except the Euro Sleepers come with a full tub, as well.
Q. Where can I store my fish?
A. Not in your unit, but you can store it with a local processor (located ½ block away), called Fishfull Thinking, that will clean and flash freeze it for you. Outside storage is not an option because they will attract bears, raccoons and crows. Some fisherman choose to store their fish in coolers in a locked vehicle (must be enclosed), however we strongly recommend the fish processor, as they will flash freeze your catch and vacuum pack for continued freshness for many months to come.
Q. How long does it take to get to Ucluelet from the ferry?
A. If you are arriving from the departure bay ferry terminal in Nanaimo you are looking at a 21/2 – 3 hr drive to Ucluelet. If arriving by ferry from Victoria then you are looking at 4 -41/2 hour drive to Ucluelet.
Q. Can you rent a car in Ucluelet?
A. Yes, but not right in Ucluelet. You can rent cars from Budget which is located at the airport between Ucluelet and Tofino. You can arrange your booking prior to your arrival by contacting budget directly.
Q. Do you have a BBQ?
A. Yes, we even have a cook shack that is contained outside area with BBQ, meal prep area, sink, smoker and crab pot. Guests are welcome to use the facility while staying with us.
Q. Is there any place to eat in Ucluelet?
A. Yes!!! 20+ restaurants and counting. Walk to all of them.
Q. Are the rooms clean?
A. Yes, yes, yes! This is our family-business and our livelihood. We inspect our rooms after every clean to ensure quality control. We also pay fair wages to our hard-working housekeeping staff – our great staff are one of the main reasons for our success and we believe in treating them as our most important resource. They are the ones making sure our rooms are clean and they treat our guests well. Most of our staff members have been here for many years – unusual for this occupation. Q. Is a motel the kind of place for us?
A. A motel is basically a hotel – with one main difference. You access your guest unit from the exterior of the building – you have a private entrance. We do have quite a wide range of units (basic units, kitchens, large family suites, and units with a private balcony with an exception view of the boats (unusual for a motel), a cabin rental and a 4 bedroom vacation home). If we don’t have what you are looking for (imagine that!), we are always glad to suggest somewhere. For those of you that are looking for clean, family-run, accommodation with pride of ownership – choose us. We guarantee that we will take good care of you. We also offer assistance with restaurant selections, trails to walk, creating surf packages, whale watching trips, fishing trips, etc. Our goal is to have your return and send your friends.
Q. Are the units renovated?
A. The units have been renovated since we purchased the motel 5 years ago. Beds and most furnishings have been replaced. We have an annual replacement program and every year more furniture and TV’s are replaced. Old furnishings are donated to goodwill. Our annual profits are re-invested back into maintenance, upgrades to the suites and buildings. We are always doing our best to improve on what we have. Our goal for the next couple of years, besides upgrading more rooms every year, is to redo the exterior of our buildings. New siding and windows and doors on the way. We do appreciate every penny our customers choose to spend here and use it wisely to improve our facility as time and money allow.
Q. Is there room service?
A. No, we do not have a restaurant on-site. There are many restaurants within walking distance. We do sell bottled water from our front desk.
